The Art of Storytelling at Stuart Public School
If you ever find yourself forgetting why you fell in love with writing or storytelling… you can find it in the eyes of a child!
I was honored to share Gidgett the Pretty Kitty Detective storybook with students at Stuart Public School! Each child in attendance took home a book, an activity book, a spyglass, and stickers! However, the most memorable part of the visit was the sparkling conversation with these students and learning what interests them and inspires their ideas for stories! I heard so many imaginative examples from stories from the Civil War Era, fantasy stories taking place in modern day times, or even when America was first discovered! There were so many clever ideas sparking future book opportunities from those incredible students!
I do believe there will be some future best-selling authors amongst those Stuart Hornet students!
Community Support stems from Common Roots
Our book signing hosted by Common Roots in McAlester, OK was definitely one to remember! It was such a wonderful time to meet so many new junior detectives! We also had the chance to celebrate Gidgett’s childrens book with some old friends and even made some new ones! It’s the little moments of sharing my passion for my craft and the beauty of storytelling with readers both young and young at heart! It was a tremendous success and a wonderful day for everyone who came to help support and shop local!
Sweet Surprises Purrfect for Junior Detectives
Upon entering the back room in Yellow Gazebo for the book signing, I immediately felt myself stop in my tracks in awe of the beautiful cookies set out on the table!
Brandy House, owner of Sweet Gypsy Bakery, had truly outdone herself by creating the most beautiful and exquisite cookies I had ever seen. Looking across the table, you could see so many different cookies of different shapes, textures and surprises. Some were in the shape of Gidgett’s sweet paw-print, some were an exact replica of the Pretty Kitty Detective spyglass, characters, and of course Marple Mouse.
The Junior Detectives, who came to share in the fun, picked out a cookie or two to enjoy on the go after receiving their signed copy of Gidgett the Pretty Kitty Detective storybook, their activity book and other merchandise.
Of all the cookies presented at the first Gidgett the Pretty Kitty Detective book signing, it was undoubtedly hard to pick a favorite, but one that truly stuck out to me was the 3-D Pretty Kitty Detective spyglass with edible sprinkles inside the gelatin glass center, and of course, my sweet baby Gidgett gracing the cover of our first childrens book in the Pretty Kitty Detective series.
Thank you Brandy House again for creating and delivering the most beautiful and detailed cookies I could have ever dreamed of for our first official book signing. You are too sweet!
Gidgett the Pretty Kitty Detective - Book Signing with Yellow Gazebo (McAlester, OK)
To say I am blessed and feel very fortunate as a self-published author is an understatement!
I was overwhelmed by the generous support and wonderful response I received at my first official book signing for my children’s book “Gidgett the Pretty Kitty Detective!”
Thank you again to Brandy Snell and the Yellow Gazebo staff for generously hosting our book signing/ official release event! I also want to share a special thank you to Brandy House, owner of SweetGypsy Bakery, for making the delicious and exquisite cookies for our little readers to enjoy!
I had the privilege to meet so many new junior detectives and share my love of reading, writing, and mysteries. If only Gidgett could have been there to see it, but she was busy taking a cat-nap at the time ;)
To share my passion of mysteries and the written word with little readers is truly a dream come true!
Here’s to more memories to be made and more cases to be solved!
